The Art Farm project fosters creative environmental stewardship between students and local communities. Integrating art and design at all stages of the process, the Art Farm participants plant native trees and vegetation in effort to conserve, remediate, or augment chosen areas of the urban landscape. This project gives students the rare opportunity to extend their creativity beyond academic walls to impact real life environmental issues. Additionally, the Art Farm develops vital partnerships between academic institutions and local environmental and humanitarian organizations, while the entire city benefits from a cleaner, more attractive, and culturally richer environment.
This project is currently under development in the city of Boston, though the model could be applied to any school system and urban environment.
